NV Nadeson Collis Coda

The NV Nadeson Collis Coda is a remarkable sparkling wine, and a new entrant into the upper echelon of Australian sparkling, born from a perpetual blend that began in 2006. Each year, Ray Nadeson and Maree Collis add to this evolving base, creating a unique and rich sparkling experience.

Coda is crafted with the finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at that Ray & Maree can get their hands on, along with small amounts of Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris, all sourced from the cool, schist-soiled vineyards of Drumborg in Henty. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed and naturally fermented in barriques and foudre. The base wine ages in foudre, and when it reaches its peak, a small portion is drawn off for tirage and bottle ageing.

The 2017 draw-off, producing just 1334 bottles, spent 24 months on lees before being disgorged in October 2019, with zero dosage. This latest batch was disgorged in August 2022 and is likely the last for some time as the base wine continues to age on lees.

Coda offers an oxidative, sherry-esque style with layers of complexity. It's powerful, savoury and deeply vinous with notes of toasted nuts, citrus, and a hint of brioche. This is an epic Australian sparkling wine - really unlike anything else we have seen in Australia. For the time and patience it took Ray and Maree to craft this, we thank them!
