The 2022 Head Red Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolute gem, showcasing the best of Barossa's secret weapon - Cabernet.
From an Ebenezer vineyard planted in 1950, this is a blend of small parcels of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. Fermented naturally with indigenous yeast and minimally handled, this wine is all about purity.
It's full of classic Cabernet notes of blackcurrant, black cherry, and cassis, layered with hints of tobacco and a creamy texture. Fine tannins give the wine a polished finish without losing that bold Barossa depth.
A wonderfully approachable Cabernet and tremendous value for money.
93 Points
"A blend of 85% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, 3% malbec and 2% petit verdot from across the subregions of Ebenezer, Nuriootpa and Flaxman Valley. Ripe blackberry and black cherry fruits with hints of cinnamon, clove, tobacco, olive tapenade, sage, cedar and cassis. An inflow of blackcurrant pastille on the palate lifts things up a notch, the tannins are fine and powdery, and there is a cassis-like flow on the exit."
