2022 Head Old Vine Shiraz

The Old Vine Shiraz is the twin of Alex Head's benchmark Old Vine Grenache.

These wines celebrate the incredible vineyard resources that Alex is lucky enough to work with. The vines that contribute to this release are up to 100 years old. To get fruit from these rare historic sites, made by a talent such as Alex at this price point, shows the remarkable value to be had in Australian wine at the moment.

This is classic Barossa Shiraz - robust, powerful and deliciously opulent.

"A seductive, comforting nose of plush dark red fruits sits in harmony with black earth and a fresh waft of field herbs and eucalypt. A splash of Cabernet helps its appeal. Yep, sure seems like Australia to me – and the rich palate is generous without being bulky, underpinned by solid structure, a firm seam of fine-grained tannins and the most gentle oak frame to bind it all through a long, balanced ride."
