  • Description

The Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Cinq Terroirs is a rich and silky red Burgundy, sourced from five exceptional plots within Gevrey-Chambertin. These diverse plots—En Motrot, Au Vellé, Combe-du-Dessus, En Champs, and En Dérée—each combine into a wine of remarkable depth and purity.

Meticulous winemaking practices, including grape sorting and the use of natural yeasts, ensure a concentrated and pure expression of the terroir. The wine is aged in a mix of new and old wood, which provides structure without overwhelming the palate. Only 10-15% new barrels are used, and one-third of the fruit is destemmed, it's a wine that speaks beautifully of the Gevrey-Chambertin village.

On the palate, the 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Cinq Terroirs offers luscious flavours that are both refined and long-lasting. It's a champion of Gevrey-Chambertin and a wine that speaks to the Mortet family's ability to craft wines that stand alongside Burgundy's great names. Enjoy this wine now or cellar it for further development.

“Very impressive intensity on the nose, this is well-defined, crushed stone and citrus scents, the former becoming more prominent with time. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, pixelated in definition, not powerful but tensile on the steely finish. Excellent.”

“Usually the weightiest wines of Gevrey come from this sector. This starts well with a plump fruit but just a little drier than expected on the palate. The elements will all come together and then you have the choice of this more in your face Gevrey or the elegance of Ma Cuvée (under the Arnaud Mortet label).”
