  • Description

Frank Cornelissen, a Belgian native, has become a cult figure in the natural wine world, known for his uncompromising approach to winemaking.

In the rugged landscapes of Sicily's Etna region, he cultivates his vines without chemicals and vinifies his wines without additives, creating pure, unadulterated expressions of the land.

The Magma BB Barbabecchi, made from Nerello Mascalese grapes grown at an elevation of 1,000 meters, is his flagship wine. It's one of the most coveted natural wines in the world, a raw distillation of volcanic soils that is mesmerising to drink.

With its elegant balance and extraordinary harmony, this wine showcases the purity and poetry of Frank Cornelissen’s minimal intervention approach. Limited in availability and rich in character, it's a gem for those who appreciate the raw, unfiltered beauty of natural wines.

"So much blue fruit to this with raspberry and blue berry aromas as well as cranberries and pomegranate. Citrus, too. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh and tensioned finish. It’s very long and very cool in its nature. Shows lovely ripeness and balance at the end. Wonderful intensity. Drink or hold. (9/2/23)"

"The 2020 Rosso Magma is pure elegance. It seduces the senses with a bouquet that opens savory and earthy with grilled herbs and stone, further evolving to reveal crushed black raspberries and cloves. A hint of candied citrus elevates its ripe red and dark blue fruits, underscored by a subtle suggestion of balsamic spice. The 2020 finishes dramatically long and youthfully tense, leaving crunchy tannins and a staining of primary concentration that penetrates deeply. There's a massive amount of power beneath the surface here, but the 2020 is currently in a youthfully backward state."
