Gembrook Hill in the Yarra is a genuine unsung Australian wine hero. Their Chardonnay and Pinot are excellent but they may be best known for their exquisite, food-friendly, old-vine Sauvignon Blanc.
It's delicate, flinty and minerally, and not in the least overt or overpowering. There are wild herbs, gentle citrus and a stony, pebbly mouthfeel.
In essence, it's classical old-world Sauvignon Blanc in a riper Aussie frame. Simply delicious.

"Composed, textured, well flavoured and lengthy. This is another excellent release from Gembrook Hill, one of the Australian masters of this variety, though I’d recommend that this release be popped into the cellar for a short stint rather than simply pop and poured; there’s a cut of grapefruit-like flavour to the finish in particular that will look all the better once it’s had time to soften."
