The 2019 Mac Forbes Woori Yallock Ferguson Vineyard Block 3 Pinot Noir is a new chapter in the Mac Forbes story, and proudly sits at the top of his extensive winemaking tree.

Coming from Mac's cherished Ferguson Vineyard, this is a fruit selection from a narrow slither of vines that are particularly special. The 2019 vintage, characterized by warm, dry conditions and small, concentrated berries, produced fruit of exceptional quality and intensity. It was fermented with wild yeast in open fermenters with 100% whole berries and matured for 11 months in small oak barrels, before spending four years in bottle before release, developing extra complexity and depth.

On the nose, powerful aromas of dark cherry, blood plum, and baking spice draw you in. The palate is equally intense, with cherries, dark forest fruits framed by herbaceous notes. It carries the typical Mac Forbes lively acid line, with elegant silty tannins and a seamless structure that leads to an almost endless finish.

The 2019 Block 3 Pinot Noir is still youthful but promises a long and rewarding evolution. It’s a testament to Mac Forbes' dedication to site-specific winemaking and a must-have for any serious Pinot Noir enthusiast.

"This is in a good place with its aromas of dark plum, floral notes, sous bois and spice. More youthful on the palate than the nose suggests, there's good density to go with the still firm yet polished tannins. Can be approached now, with food, but still has plenty to offer for the future."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

"Dark, plummy, meaty with a hint of liquorice and fresh coffee beans, again, quite meaty, bloody, there’s a black tea leaf on top and black fruit juice note under. Dark spice and bitter black fruit skins provide chewiness. Not too dissimilar to other Pinots, fine, smooth stony tannins lead the long way. Black pepper finish, firm and strong. Assertive. Ferrous finale. Give it time to unfurl. It’s a keeper."
