Good things take time, and the 2018 Dhillon Col Mountain Shiraz is proof of just that. Crafted from four carefully chosen Shiraz clones, this wine has been given the luxury of ageing until it’s perfectly poised and ready to shine.
The PT23 and 1654 clones bring smoothness and aromatic flair, while the Yalumba and R6WV28 add depth and richness. Grown on deep red soils laced with shattered rock, the fruit imparts a natural complexity that winemaker Michael Dhillon has captured beautifully. The result is a layered, Christmas-cake-like character with dark fruits at its core, brightened by a pop of red fruit.
The palate is rich, juicy, and full, framed by fine, flowing tannins and balanced acidity. Drinking beautifully now, the 2018 Col Mountain Shiraz will reward those who cellar it for up to a decade.
