Beechworth's reputation for top-flight Chardonnay is well-earned. The region has produced some insanely powerful Chardonnays over the past decade or more.
Willem Kurt's owner/winemaker Daniel Balzer has perhaps reigned in a little of that power with his newest release of Chardonnay but left none wanting in flavour.
This is a great modern example of the direction of the region. It has length and intensity without leaning too heavily on oak. It maintains freshness with deliciousness above all.
Truly, one of the best value wines we've seen from the region.

"Another stylish and complex chardonnay for this label. Embraces a chalky, savoury, citrus flintiness that is so convincingly good, convincingly Beechworth in personality. Nectarine, white peach, preserved lemon, gun flint backed by baked bread, toasted almond and spice. Acidity is a feature here, bringing a tensile quality. Mouth-watering grapefruit pithy finish."
