Yeringberg is one of the great family-owned estates of the Yarra Valley. The heritage and history that this site holds for the de Pury family stretches back more than 100 years; theirs is one of the great wine/farming stories of the region.
Their Cabernet blend is their most iconic wine, a wine that sits well and truly amongst the Yarra Valley's greats. A flagship of the estate for nearly half a century, it’s a wine that never chases power but instead leans into restraint, detail, and quiet confidence. In 2022, Sandra de Pury has once again crafted a blend that feels effortless, yet beneath its elegance lies a structure built for the long haul.
A true field blend, this year’s mix is 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, and 4% Cabernet Franc—each variety grown side by side, harvested when the vineyard decides, and vinified with a light hand. The fruit was fermented in small open-top tanks, spending 12-21 days on skins, before ageing for 21 months in French oak (40% new). The result is a wine that feels polished but never forced, shaped by time rather than intervention.
The nose is classic Yeringberg—blackcurrant and plum, layered with violet, bay leaf, and cedar. There’s a savoury, graphite-like edge that pulls you in, while the palate is seamless, unfolding in waves of dark berries, cocoa, and dried herbs, framed by fine yet persistent tannins. It lingers with a freshness that keeps everything lifted, reminding you that this is a Cabernet blend built on precision, not weight.
Right now, it’s all about tension and potential, a wine that will reward patience for 15–20 years. But if curiosity gets the better of you, a long decant and a great meal will make it well worth opening. This is Yarra Valley Cabernet at its most refined—an estate in full command of its craft.

"That's two great
back-to-back vintages for this Yarra Valley and Australian classic... This complex and harmonious wine is destined to join the ranks of the very best Yeringbergs."
