Scorpo’s Noirien Pinot Noir is everything you want in a Mornington Peninsula Pinot - bright, juicy, and just a little bit savoury.
Sourced from two north-facing sites in Merricks North, the 2023 vintage saw a slow, steady ripening season, bringing both freshness and depth. Hand-picked over two weeks, the fruit was treated in four parcels - some cold-soaked, some whole bunch - before spending seven months in mostly seasoned French oak (just 11% new).
The result? A Pinot that balances red and dark berries with a distinctly savoury edge of olive and brown spice. The tannins have a gentle grip, the acidity keeps things lively, and there’s a subtle amaro-like bitterness that adds intrigue to the long, dry finish.
An easy, food-friendly drink now, but with enough structure to develop in the short term. A solid go-to for those who like their Pinot with a bit of character.
