  • Description

For both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the wines from Woori Yallock almost always top our Mac Forbes tastings. This outstanding Chardonnay release is both tense and plush, with intense citrus and spice flavours, a deep fruit core, and a fine minerality that guides a long, powerful finish.

Woori Yallock sits behind the Waramate hills, this sub-region benefits from a mix of red volcanic and grey loam soils, creating a Chardonnay with beautiful texture. The undulating hills shield the vines from dry winds, while slightly higher rainfall lends a density and effortless weight to the wine.

On the palate, you’ll find a harmonious balance of ripe stone fruits and a gentle citrus lift, all carried by a subtle minerality that lingers through the finish.

The wine’s dense, yet graceful presence makes it a standout in the Village range, offering a fuller-bodied expression while maintaining the finesse that Mac Forbes wines are known for. Classy concentrated Chardonnay does not have to be big and buttery, and this is proof positive, the Woori Yallock Village Chardonnay delivers a taste that’s as layered as the landscape it hails from.

"As always, this is the most accessible, as a young wine, of the three 'Village' chardonnays. A bright green gold with aromas of stone fruits, a touch of oyster shell and a little cashew. Mouth-filling, flavoursome and long. An excellent Woori!"
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

"The only things more charming than the man are his wines... There’s a restrained power at play here, plenty of stonefruit and citrus, some preserved lemon too, and a fine, granular minerality."
- Nick Ryan (The Weekend Australian)
