Californian Chardonnay can be rich, opulent and very expensive. And then we have the Fat Bastard Chardonnay, which is rich, opulent and very cheap.
The grapes come from the scenic Monterrey region in California, down the coast from San Francisco. It's an area that makes powerful, tropical Chardonnays, but rarely so inexpensive. Look for peaches and nectarines, burnt butter aromas and a rich, cream and butterscotch palate.
Aged in French and American oak, backed up by some nice load-bearing acidity, this is great honest-to-goodness Full Bodied Chardonnay drinking. Get in my belly.
