Peter Graham’s Beechworth Shiraz is all about balance - structured yet approachable, detailed without being overworked. Grown on a south-facing ridge of the Domenica vineyard, the fruit was picked in small batches, fermented separately in concrete, and aged in French barriques (25% new) to add depth without overpowering the wine’s natural character.
Inspired by Northern Rhône Syrah, this is a cool-climate Shiraz with plenty of savoury appeal. The mild 2022 vintage meant a long, even ripening season, giving the wine bright fruit, fine tannins, and great natural acidity. It’s drinking well now but has the bones to develop beautifully over time.
With his hands-off approach and focus on vineyard expression, Peter continues to show why Domenica is one of Beechworth’s most exciting small producers. Classic, structured, and built to age, but with plenty to enjoy right now.

"Superlative aromas of mace, charcuterie, tapenade, and florals. The fruit—blue and savory—is really not the point. It is more about the lithe framework of structural attributes, from the precise acidity, sinuous tannins, and impeccably integrated whole bunches... Very fine Syrah."

"Refined and multi-layered aromas of granite and cumin are delivered over a strong base of black olive. Muscular, chewy and deeply savory in style, with wafts of aged meats and stone, its quite serious structure will see this wine sing for many years to come."

"This is very good. Plum, cherry, almond meal, a little spice, and liquorice root. It’s medium-bodied, tight and grainy in the tannin department...Raspberry, cherry, and earth, with a finish of excellent length. Top shelf."
