The Vat 8 Shiraz Cabernet is a Hunter Valley classic that has pride of place in many great cellars across the country.
It marries Shiraz and Cabernet from some of the family's finest vineyards into a richer, darker expression of the region.
It's aged in smaller (225L) barrels and built to mature gracefully in the cellar.
This is a uniquely Australian blend from one of the most historic and iconic winemaking families in the country. A safer bet for the cellar, you'll hardly see from the Hunter Valley.

"A blend of Hunter Shiraz 60% and McLaren Vale Cabernet. Kind of a curio in the Tyrrell’s portfolio, though one with history and pedigree. I think the Hunter Valley and McLaren Vale sing well together, as an aside. Rich, black fruit, black olive, a bit of liquorice and aniseed. Medium to full-bodied, ripe with red and black fruit, a smooth ride of deep flavour, and a slightly earthy character, the tannin really fine and massed on a long finish. Impressive."
