2018 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Aleste

Aleste is Luciano Sandrone’s famous single Cru Barolo that was previously know simply as Cannubi Boschis a particular subzone near the northern end of the Cannubi hill. Reflecting Luciano's emphasis on family the label change a few years ago was to honour his grandchildren, whose initials make up the name Aleste.

This is Sandrone's home turf, with almost 2 hectares of vines to play with, and their winery just round the corner. It produces a Barolo of power and density, but with a gliding elegance that even makes such an intense wine approachable on release.
