Col McBryde and Jen Gardner are Adelina. A pair of smart cookies, each rocking a PhD in microbiology, they have together formed one of the Clare Valley's most esteemed and exciting wineries, based around their family-owned, meticulously farmed 110+-year-old vineyard.

2022 Adelina McLaren Vale Shiraz

Col McBryde at Adelina wanted to make a Shiraz that was a little different to their usual one - a bit more dark and broody, but still keeping the classic Adelina style.

So Col sourced some certified organic fruit from the McLaren Vale, coming from a ripper site in Kangarilla managed by two impeccable growers, Yanagrra's Michael Lane and Pete Fraser. We all know what great fruit and a deft touch equals.

It's got a focus more on dark fruit flavour than their Clare Valley reds, with chewy tannin and a bit more of a broodiness to its personality. Still inherently Adelina in style, it's something a little different - and incredibly delicious. Read More

2022 Adelina Cabernet Franc

This is Adelina's beautiful Cab Franc release from the now organic-certified Smith vineyard in the Polish Hill River sub-region. Fruit was all destemmed, with just a few days spent on skins, then spent eight months maturing in old French barriques.

Satiny mid-weight Clare Valley red, replete with cherry and strawberry aromatic, and a pure, clean-living palate.

It's fresh, with delicious, red-berry juiciness and a herbal, peppery backbone. Joyous wine. Read More

2022 Adelina Shiraz Mataro

The Adelina Shiraz Mataro showcases the exquisite old vine Clare Valley fruit that Jen Gardner and Col McBryde have at their disposal.

Over half of the fruit is sourced from vineyards 100+ years old, these are some of the Clare Valley's most precious and respected vineyards.

The wine itself is treated with the typical Adelina care: wild ferments, gentle handling, and this year a portion fermented in concrete. This is yet another remarkable release, delivering a flavour-packed yet elegant representation of old-vine Clare Valley fruit.

2022 Adelina Introspect Field Blend

The Introspect Field Blend is an unusual blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Ugni Blanc, Roussanne and Carignan, from a now-certified organic vineyard above the winery in the Clare Valley.

The vines (originally Cabernet) were planted back in 1976, then in 2015 Col and Jen grafted them over to this mad selection of red and white Rhone varieties. They picked the lot together, fermented them together and bottled the result after a nice sleep in old oak.

It's a light but savoury red wine, with delicious bright red fruit, a hint of mint, and soft graphitey tannins. A strange yet lovely offering from this star Clare Valley producer. Read More

2022 Adelina Estate Grenache

Adelina Estate, led by Col McBryde and Jen Gardner, is hitting all the right notes with their latest releases. Their elegant, understated packaging, exceptional old vine fruit, and distinctive 'house style' are solidifying their reputation as one of the finest producers in the Clare Valley.

The Grenache exemplifies the 'new wave' of Australian Grenache—fine-boned and high-toned. Sourced from an 80-year-old vineyard on the Adelina property, this Grenache bursts with aromas of fresh strawberries, raspberries, almonds, mint, and a rosy perfume. Freshness and age-worthiness reign supreme here, with a rocky, mineral feel on the finish, this is a bright, perfumed, and individual expression of Clare Valley's terroir. Superb stuff and top of the tree for Grenache in the Clare, no doubt.

Produced in limited quantities, with only 2,304 bottles made. Rated 95+ points by Gary Walsh and 95 points by Erin Larkin, this wine is a superb example of what Grenache can achieve in the hands of skilled winemakers. Read More

2022 Adelina Estate Shiraz

A future classic for Clare Valley Shiraz in the making from Col McBryde and Jen Gardner.

Grown on gnarly old centurion vines in some of the region's finest grape-growing land, the vineyard features a unique soil mix of red sand, clay, slate, and limestone. The grapes, grown at 460m elevation, benefit from organic farming certified by ACO.

This is a knockout Shiraz of intensity, class, and immense potential. It's Clare Valley through and through. Bold and striking, showing regional mint and purple fruit on a bedrock of incredibly impressive tannin.
