Timo Mayer's Close Planted Pinot Noir is one of the Yarra Valley's most sought-after wines.
Grown on his tightly spaced estate vineyard south of Healesville, these vines work hard, producing fruit with remarkable intensity and fine structure.
The 2024 vintage, shaped by a warm but balanced ripening season, is all about finesse. Timo backed off the whole-bunch component this year to just 30% due to the extra power already inherent in the vintage. Red cherry, wild strawberry, and subtle spice lead the way, with fine tannins and just a touch of new oak (Timo’s only Pinot to see any), adding depth without overshadowing the wine’s natural delicacy.
Silky, perfumed, and beautifully composed - this is Yarra Valley Pinot at its most graceful. Don’t wait too long, it never lasts.

"All estate grown with 30% whole bunches and matured in 15% new hogsheads. A light, bright ruby red. An opulent, floral and spicy bouquet where you barely detect the stems. Delicious as a young wine; red fruited and with silky, very nicely balanced tannins. A wine to drink before the '23, but it's also worth pointing out that Mayer's track record with this wine tells us that this will still be looking good five to seven years from now."
