James and Meagan Becker are carving out a thoughtful niche in the Hunter Valley, focusing on single-vineyard wines that let the land speak for itself. Their small plot is in the process of organic certification, and the approach in the winery is all about minimal intervention - wild ferments, no fining, no filtering. It’s early days for the Beckers, but their first releases are already making waves.
This Chardonnay is a classic Hunter expression, bold and flavourful but with a sense of balance and restraint. It’s all white nectarine, melon, and gentle oak, with texture and length that give it a bit of polish. There’s complexity, but it’s approachable, drinking beautifully now but with the structure to evolve.
It’s a wine that reflects both the land and the laid-back but considered approach of its makers. Pure, honest, and unmistakably Hunter Valley.
