Sometimes, the best wines come from happy accidents—like the 2024 Dhillon Glenhope Accidental Red. What began in 2022 as a clever blend of surplus Merlot juice and Shiraz pressings has evolved into a deliberate, playful creation from Michael Dhillon of Bindi Wines.
This year’s iteration includes a dash of Malbec (5%), adding a touch more depth to the mix of Merlot berries and Shiraz juice. A quick wild yeast fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation and six months in barrel, results in a bright, chillable red with red cherry fruit, gentle spice, and earthy layers.
Light, juicy, and mid-weight, it’s reminiscent of Pinot Noir, with silky, fine tannins and a lingering finish. Fun, affordable, and utterly drinkable—serve it slightly chilled and enjoy the magic of this Macedon Ranges gem. A delicious and great value offering from one of the Macedon Range's best producers.
