Sam Connew’s 2023 Palisander Riesling is a standout expression of Tasmanian Riesling, offering both vibrancy and texture. Grown on her sustainably farmed vineyard in the Coal River Valley, the fruit is handled with precision, fermented in a ceramic egg, and aged on lees to create a wine that’s more layered and supple than the typical Tassie style.
Bright citrus, white blossoms, and a hint of spice lift from the glass, while the palate delivers mouth-watering acidity balanced by a gentle creaminess and a fine mineral thread. There’s a subtle grip from the lees ageing, adding depth and making each sip more intriguing.
It’s fresh and expressive now, perfect with seafood or enjoyed on its own, but there’s enough structure here to reward a few years in the cellar. With limited quantities available, this is a Riesling worth seeking out.

"Powerful and intense, mango fruit with cumquat and lemon balm notes with a wonderful gliding texture. It has such power that is perfectly balanced by fine yet driven acidity that builds great length and ensures clarity at the finish."

"Pale straw with precise aromas of green apple, lemon, lime and grapefruit with tones of clover blossom, meadow flowers, green apple sorbet, rosemary, ginger cake, crushed stone, sea spray and ozone. Taut and fine with pure citrus and apple fruits, herbal tea, citrus sherbet and stone. Acidity is bright and saline and it has a finish that draws longer and true with just a slink of texture."
