"Angelo Gaja is, without question, the most famous wine producer in Italy. Possibly one of the most famous in the world. He is credited with developing techniques that revolutionised winemaking in Italy.

The 2022 Sito Moresco brings together two of Piedmont’s most expressive grapes - Nebbiolo and Barbera - in a way that’s both classic and quietly contemporary. While the blend has evolved over time, it now stands at 60% Nebbiolo and 40% Barbera, with fruit drawn from prime vineyard sites in Treiso and Serralunga.
This latest vintage also benefits from a recent shift in Gaja’s broader winemaking strategy. With the return of their famed single-vineyard Barbarescos to 100% Nebbiolo, some top-shelf Barbera has been redirected into this wine - raising the bar for Sito Moresco without changing its approachable spirit.
Fermented in a mix of oak and tank, then aged as a blend in oak for a year, this is a polished but quietly energetic expression of Langhe. It offers plenty of immediate drinking pleasure, with the kind of finesse and depth that hints at Gaja’s pedigree, even in their more everyday offerings.
