More than any other wine, Mac Forbes' Woori Yallock Ferguson Vineyard Pinot Noir showcases his passion for expressing the unique terroirs of the Yarra Valley.
Planted in 1995 and leased by Mac since 2012, this south-facing vineyard benefits from protection against hot northerly winds, producing exceptional fruit in both hot and cool years. The 2021 vintage saw ideal conditions, resulting in a wine that really captures the essence of its site and season. Fermented with wild yeast in oak vats and open fermenters with 10% whole bunches, and matured for 14 months in small old oak barrels, this Pinot Noir is unfined and unfiltered to preserve its character.
Mac's 'Woori' Pinot is always a delicate beauty, with playful pink and red fruits on the nose, alpine herbs, spicy hints and fresh orange rind. The palate is silky smooth, with more sappy red fruits transitioning to a grippy, structural back palate with fine chalky tannins that linger long after the last sip.
The 2021 Ferguson Pinot Noir is a beautiful reflection of Mac Forbes’ commitment to showcasing the Yarra Valley’s terroir through expressive, site-driven wines. Enjoy it now or let it develop further in your cellar.

"Spiced strawberry, cranberries and cracked pepper perfume, then fresh button mushrooms, fresh yeast, and roses, cinnamon bark texture, a bit of sous-bois. All in vibration. It’s sort of bony and firm, stony if you will, fine smooth tannins with a long finish. Love the lightness on the alcohol side but none of the weight or tightly packed flavour is lost. Fine-boned and impactful."
