The 2021 Mac Forbes Woori Yallock Ferguson Chardonnay is a standout Yarra Valley Chardonnay from the esteemed Woori Yallock vineyard, which has been under Mac’s careful guidance since 2012.
Planted in 1995 and owned by the Ferguson family, this south-facing vineyard benefits from relief from hot northerly winds, producing exceptional fruit every year. The 2021 vintage, with near-perfect conditions, allowed for slow, even ripening. Fermented with wild yeast in small old oak barrels and matured for 11 months, this Chardonnay saw no fining and sterile filtration, preserving its purity and character.
Mac's Woori Yallock Chardonnay is all about elegance and precision. On the nose, expect delicate aromas of peach skin, white florals, and a touch of nougat. The palate is framed by fresh orange rind, pulpy stone fruits, toasted almond, and crushed herbs. It has fine flesh on firm bones, with a bright mid-palate and a touch of white pepper leading to a long, textural finish. As always with Mac's white wines, it finishes with mouthwatering acidity and minerally, savory notes.
It’s a beautiful reflection of the Woori Yallock terroir and Mac Forbes’ unique winemaking. Enjoy this Chardonnay now, or let it develop in your cellar for 10-15 years.

"From a 1.36ha, south-facing vineyard in Woori Yallock that Mac Forbes has leased since 2012. Matured for 11 months in seasoned barriques. A bright gold with green tinges. Nutty and saline on the nose with aromas of yellow apples and pears. Gently textured and still tightly wound, this fills out and gains weight through the mid-palate before finishing saline and long. It's approachable now but will be even better in four to six years, if not longer."

"Pistacchio halva top note. It’s quite minerally, salty and savoury upfront, the first thing that hits the palate and the first thing you think of. And probably the last too. The fruit is in the background, Nashi pear, grapefruit, crunchy apple, white nectarine, green melon and a hint of papaya. Mouthwatering acidity, speaks elegance, lightness but power and fine talcum texture. Complete wine with balance and great length. It’s a pleasure."
