From Williamstown on the fringe of the Barossa nearest to the Adelaide Hills, this is a cooler expression of Shiraz from this benchmark Australian region.
Quite a vibrant expression of the Barossa here, the sandy soils, and cooler temperatures, compared to valley floor vineyards has produced a wine that is quite lifted and aromatic. Red fruits, purple florals, and a nice aniseed touch as well enchant, while the palate opens to a much more spice driven flavour profile.
A youthful wine, that needs some air to open, it’s the kind of wine that gives immense pleasure now, while also having some mid-term cellarability to it.
